essential buddhism: sussex university group

This group serves as an introduction to Buddhist practice and studies and will help to establish new members on the Buddhist path. Each session comprises Mindfulmess practice and, at present, the study of the text " The Four Seals" by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. It is held on Monday evenings from 6pm to 7pm during term times at:

mind training

The mind training group comprises the study of the text "The Thirty Seven-fold Practice of the Bodhisattvas" by Ngulchu Thogme together with the practise of "The Swift Path to Enlightenment". The group runs on weekday evenings here at Freshfield Street.

shamatha and study

The group runs on weekday evenings here at Freshfield Street and is open to all. The evening includes guidance and practice on shamatha meditation as well as the study of various texts and teachings from our teachers. At present we are studying Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche's 'What makes you not a Buddhist'.

study and practice days

These are usually hosted once every five or six weeks either here at Freshfield Street or by Canterbury Tibet Link in Canterbury. They enable us to study, in detail, the teachings received during the annual seminars.

Our teachers visit us regularly to give instruction directly to the group and also to hold more public seminars.

tsog ceremonies

These are held on the 10th and 25th of each Tibetan month and also on the anniversaries of the lineage teachers.
